She hurt me too badly, in too many ways,
Love is just the last thing on my mind these days.

Your kind and generous, but I hope patient too,
As much as I wish it, I’m just not there for you.
It wouldn’t be fair, to start something right now,
Until I’m over it and this pain takes a bow.

The timing is bad, it’s no reflection on you,
I just need time, it’s what I have to do.
I don’t expect you to wait, that’s asking too much,
This is my problem, please treat it as such.

Because of what’s happened, I’ve lost all my fight,
My defences are up, my love locked up tight.
Until I am ready to commit, and this relationship can start,
You can’t break down my walls, there’s no lock-pick for my heart.

I’m just not ready, I’m sorry but it’s true,
I want to be honest, never lie to you.
She hurt me too badly, in too many ways,
Love is just the last thing on my mind these days.
