Array ( [sid] => 169529 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Silent, Deadly, Water, Typhoon Sendong [time] => 2011-12-21 20:26:01 [hometext] => This is bits that have come to my mind over the last few days here, after Typhoon Sendong vent its water onto the Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City areas of the Philippines. It is just a jumble. [bodytext] => Water, running silently through the night,
Water, rushing, gushing, with all its might,
Water, deafening, deadly, at too much a height,
Hundreds sleeping, unawares of what will be,
Water, muddy, sweeping them out to the sea,
Water, uncaringly, taking all in its sight.

Babies, gone, disappearing without a sigh,
While families sit and cry,
Siblings swiftly swept within a tick of clock,
While families are in shock,
Loved ones, gone, never replaced, life that is so brief,
With families in deep grief.

Television, images, pictures burning into the soul,
Television, sound, toll rising, grim stories be told,
Television, no barriers, gone both young and old,
Rich and poor the water swept, for it has no cares,
Television and mother nature, they matter not who or where,
Television, devastation, donation centers unfold.

This christmas, upon us, no presents to family I will share,
This christmas, my heart, is with those who are still there,
This christmas, my candles, lit with hundreds in my prayers,
I do donate, food, clothing, money everything that I can,
This christmas, thoughts, with each woman child and man,
This christmas, help, let lee fortunate know we care.

These lines put together after Typhoon Sendong hit the Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City areas of the Philippines, there will be no christmas presents from myself to family members this year, as my family has enough to be comfortable, and what they do not have, they can afford to get themselves. Anything I have that can be spared this year will go to the relief funds and donation centers for the victims of Typhoon Sendong.

The images we see here on the television of the death and destruction, and the aftermath of this flash flooding, just goes to show the power of mother nature, and how frail and brief our time here can be. The number of people that have opened their hearts, to help, to search, to comfort, to donate, whatever they can, just shows how great the human spirit is here. My heart goes out to all these people, especially at this time of year.

As a footnote, to see a child here, not more than 10, in, what we would call rags where I am from, put a coin into a donation jar, brings tears to ones eyes, and just goes to show how much these people will go to help each other in times of need.

This Christmas, please think of all those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

By the time I was done reading this all I realy wanted to do was cry. Your power of words into emotions is very apparent in this one. The repition with the words being the same at the beginning of each line really brings it home.

Great stuff. Wonderful heart, my man.

The imagery in this is so powerful.

Also, I am sorry that this has happened.
