Don’t forget the sun screen son.
And please watch out for sharks.
Remember to have lots of fun,
But be home before it’s dark!

“We are going to have great fun,
Please don’t worry about me,”
The last thing my son said
When he left home was “Yippee!”

“I’m leaving now for college,
I’ll see you dad real soon!”
As he drove away from home
After emptying out his room.

Was it only yesterday when
He bounced happily upon my knee,
When he’d say how much he loved
Both his mommy dear and me?

My little girl would hear me sing,
Sunrise and then Sunset.
But little did I realize
Just how swiftly that time went!

We would play with dollies Sambo
And yes, a Cabbage Patch,
And even with her Barbies
And boy dolls that were made to match.

Both kids grew and gave us grandsons,
And we are more careful now with time.
Both are parents who love their children
As my wife and I love mine!
