(Tribute to my Mom)
She’d check my forehead for a fever,
And she’d do it with soft cool hands,
Always followed by her tender kisses,
God’s gift to all mortals called man!

She would come in the night if I cried out in fear,
And would sing me sweet lullabies.
Then I’d fall off to sleep all pacified,
After peacefully wafting a sigh.

Two photos of her now play on my heart.
A blue dress with ruffles, short sleeved.
Black patent leather shoes on tiny feet,
Shirley Temple’s twin I believe!

A little girl of three or four,
With brown hair and many soft curls.
The photograph brings out her brown eyes,
The prettiest of all little girls.

The other picture a contrast of time.
A worn weary product of years.
But still quite a vision of loveliness,
Though I view it now through my tears.

Her head is on top of her left arm.
The love seat she sits on is brown.
Two pillows of blue surround her.
On the arm rest she sleeps with feet down.

Which will I see up in Heaven?
The young girl or the one tired out!
Matters not for I will be running
As I see her I will joyfully shout! [comments] => 1 [counter] => 73 [topic] => 38 [informant] => robert_edgar_burns [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Tributes )

Oh Rob, ya done did yer mama proud. 'Twas I see her in Heaven, I'd kinda wanna go with the rejuvenated elder who'd show me the ropes of the way it is up there, 'n' the fact I'd git a little discombobulated when a little tyke comes runnin' up to me says, "I'm yer mommy!" Beautifully scripted tribute to yer mom. kudos,

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
