I pondered what memory it had to say
Did the scar come from my careless youth
Or did it come from some other truth

It's so hard to go through life without a ding
Sometimes the scars are carried within
You look in the mirror, most stand out visible
But some of the most painful are invisible

I can account for most of the scars as I gape
It's the one inside I'd most like to escape
They are the one that bring me to my knees
The ones that make me scream, help please

The outside scars tend to sometimes fade away
At least their tales might be told with a smile today
It's the ones inside that no one must know about
They're not the stories that you want to shout out

Where they came from, their cause, do I need this
It's not like anyone can see or hear what I secretly wish
That these scars which tear my soul, cloud my mind
Would fade away, be gone, replaced with a better kind

You can't wish them away, pretend they never occurred
It's hard to put your internal vision into viable words
If I face up to the reason and causes they include
I can make fear, loneliness, despair from my life exclude

There is one person to whom I can tell the stories of the scars
He will listen, not offer a criticism, no truth from me barred
All that is required of me is I believe in myself and His love
I can talk about those scars and stories to God above. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 168 [topic] => 61 [informant] => dvtpdw [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )

Very powerful write. We all suffer from demons on the inside, but like you said as long as we continue our love in God we will be fine. Thanks for the read!
