The flowing melody of wooden flute floats softly through the breeze
As Cherry blossoms embrace the folds in her robes
Rippling water lifts and erodes the shore as time goes

Her lungs draw in the aroma of the springtime sunset
As she exhales into the steady breeze her form blends with the floating blossoms
she stands with her legs rooted with a lightness and grace
her robes and hair are dancing like the crashing of waves
Calm determination etched into her face, accented by the setting sun’s rays

Resolve well beyond her age is set deep in those warm brown eyes
But that warmth is drained as a silhouette comes to range
Like a tiger stalking his prey the shadow lingers at the horizon
The man stops short as he can feel the pressure rising

This meeting was not by chance to say the least
Fate will have its way and by nightfall one will be deceased
Two lovers who each mortally wronged the other
Can only resolve the grudge with death as their judge.

Silence. No words need stated when treacherous actions have already been traded
Her energy is shifted as her back foot is lifted, and her arms follow the lead becoming one with her sword.
As she lifts, the vibrations of steel sing out a deadly chord.
As she sinks into her stance, the blade whispers longingly for the embrace of flesh.

The man’s hands clench tightly around his katana
His eyes reflect the landscape drenched in nirvana
Yet she notices the weight of despair stinking stagnant in the air
As he too sinks into his stance and for battle each prepare
The resolution of this struggle is impossible for both
Yet neither is capable of fulfilling their oath.

Time can only be measured by the occurrence of events
Because of this the moments they stared waiting misrepresents
How long they stood waiting was lost in debating
Whether either was strong enough to make a move.

Moonlight now covers the landscape and still they stand off
The emotions flowing seem animated with cherry blossoms
Of love and anger the whirlwind swirls together
