like every other lamb.
Following every wretched convention
and off to heaven we fly.

I live under the glare of the sun,
like every other one.
Without any sense of purpose:
only ‘to do what must be done’.

I ponder upon the depths of darkness,
for the light of virtue is shrouded.
An oppressed world,
forceful in enforcing hopelessness.

I live aware of the greater pain,
felt by others whom light evades.
Yet only my ink bleeds on page,
only my fear, only my pain.

I am one of those whom light evades and being so I've learned to enjoy and even love the darkness. I refuse to follow convention infact I openly promote dissent from it. Conformity is a disease for cattle. The only beauty that the human animal can hope to attain is that of individuality. To be unique amid this world of mindless beasts driven only by their thirst for any and all that might quench their desire.. Not that quenching one's thirst is a horrible thing but to be nothing more than a zombie who devours... what a shameful waste of such potential. I cringe at tragedy just like the next mind you however I've learned to enjoy a little macabre humor at the world's expense. Little enjoyments keep one sane in this slaughter house we call earth. Liked your poem. Inspired me to think and what inspires me to think often inspires me to poetry. I think therefore.... poetry and what horrid things all poems would be if there were only conformist. hmm rambling now in my existential ponderings. guess that's it. keep up the great work. truly , doug
