Not one edge of my heart
can even remember the taste
of the nectar from your smile
The ground heaves with stale words
that never reached the air–
trapped forever in hollow promises

Moments from before fade and fall faint
drowning in the misconception of your need
But the desire of your heart
never took true form;
twisted and black, its deceit rode
boldly into all the flags of future dreams
leaving each one in shreds...

I have no place for you
and you have no cause to linger
Take your smoke and mirrors and leave my destiny
But check your pockets so nothing is forgotten....

not even the memory of you ~

Wow.. love , love , love the last couple of lines. Not even the memory of you. You write poems in ways that I could never think to write them and it's great the way you do it. I also love this poem 'cause I'm a person who likes to leave the bad behind and move onto fresh starts. So I've kicked out more than a few bad memories in my day. Great work , truly , doug

Such beauty behind sadness, but I am sure something will rise out of the ashes for someone who is so clearly intelligent and thoughtful.

I got a list of recommendations from Timotheus and you were on it. Must say I'm not disappointed. The site is hard to use with a phone so it will take me years to get through that list at this rate..lol

Thx,

TT

YES!!!!

This is boldly defiant in tone and language. It screamed to come out, and by the end I found my breath caught in my throat. The headstrong Scorpy has taken over, and she is not allowing just anyone to hold her heart.

Oh, I just love this Roxie! I know it came from deep hurt, but what you wrote here both stings AND soothes.
