So I do hope they approve of my new clothes
hope there not considered to exuberant to bold
because from what Ive been told
I should dress more age sensitively
accept im getting on, conduct myself sensibly

indivuality has become a commodity
that can be bought and sold
in this vacuous and insipid world
am I really in control
I feel ive slid subconsciously
into its mould

Is it acceptance or is it conformity
whatever it is its comforting
but I still cant supress the temptation to point and laugh
towards those who stray from the beaten path

a sense of belonging, a collective vanity
the primark store mishap the whispered profanity
todays shoes, such a imperitive decision
but look what ive reduced myself to
just to avoid the sniggers, the derision

society dictates
empty minds collate
insecure and contemptuous
dress up your inadequacies

it would reflect a thousand fallacies

I was not around in the time of Lennon. Though being a musician I've certainly known of him. I can't say the same for my peers. They are oblivious to anything that happened before they were 6 years old or there about. I like your poem. There are still people.. even younger people around who can't be bought. I am one of them. Good writing , truly , doug

A good reflection on the way society seems to be. I enjoy it very much so. This is a very well written poem, and the vocabulary really gives it a kick.

Wow, you were right I relate very much with this poetry, great inspection of the narcissism surrounding western society.
Love the last line and the mould line.
Keep it up!
