When you know your loved one is filled with defiance
Mom and Dad argue about what has been done
Until you only hear the TV, no voice, no one

Their words pierce my heart like swords
Until I feel like closing my door and nailing it up with boards
For he doesn’t know what goes on at home
But why call it that
If Trouble bubbles up like foam

He goes out all the time
Leaving nothing but clothes on the floor
And as my parents watch the door
Until they hear his shoes hit the floor
They hold their breath

Hearts are heavy
Til he walks in,
They are unsteady

For maybe they have a guess on what goes on
Or maybe they have to turn away
To make it through another day
For I am his confidant
To whom he tells everything to

But maybe it’s just what normal highschoolers do
And then there’s the sound of the TV
And one day their argument will go to far
The secret world I have been hiding will unravel
Like riding down a river without a paddle

For toothpicks can’t hold up a life
Until the day he goes to college
It will be nothing but strife
The ball I kick on the field
The great friends I have isn’t enough

For I long for the day
When my dad doesn’t say
Grow up and get tough
Cause life isn’t easy son
Until your work is done

But the Tv still sounds
As I look around for what’s next
I want to send a text
A cry for help
But I can’t show that anything is wrong
For who will understand
I just have to move along

And today I am not crying
Quite Surprising
Because the Tv still sounds
With hope I am rising [comments] => 1 [counter] => 126 [topic] => 65 [informant] => Domination [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => toughstuff )

As I read your poem, I could feel the anguish, hurt and anger that is written within the lines. This is a very good poem - you definitely need to keep writing and if any of these words that you have written are true and this is what you are going thru, please get someone to talk to.
