Afraid

We stood at the doors of the church
afraid to take that first step inside..
My sister and I saw you laying there
hand in hand we stood there and cried..
I was too afraid to walk up and look
at you..
Because I knew if I did, then what I was
denying would be true..
We placed our flowers atop your casket before
you was lowered into the ground that day..
I didn't want to leave you there by yourself,
I begged God to give you back and let you stay..
I know you are in Heaven and I long just to
feel your touch..
I wish it wasnt so painful and hard to say
goodbye I wish it didn't hurt so much..
