She's my baby girl
Held so many times in my arms
Eyes always laughing
Until he wooed her with his charms

Now her eyes are silent
Muted by her pain
Because she believed a man
Shallow and vain

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [bodytext] => My Darling Daughter
All Saturday long
I sensed something was wrong
Something was missing
I knew it all along
I watched you graduate from college
Watched you walk down that isle
Saw you talk to some friends
And even manage a smile
I tried to comfort you
But saw the time was not right
I know you’re not ready
And darling that’s alright
As we were driving home
Just your mother and I
While she was sleeping
Suddenly I
Understood what troubled me
What was missing in you
And when I understood it
My heart broke right in two
From the time you were a baby
You’ve had a smile in your eyes
A loving heart so glowing
Manys happiness it supplies
A heart so full and giving
Filled with kindness and grace
I was unprepared when I saw
The pain in your face
I try not to be angry
Not to lose my cool
But my darling baby girl
That man is a fool
He took away
The smile from your eyes
Where once danced starlight and rainbows
Agony and pain he supplies
Oh god how it angers me
To see you hurt this way
If only I could
I’d take your pain away
But someday soon
I want you to know
The smile will return
Your heart again will know
That sense of wonder
The promise of a new day
When the demons haunting your heart
Time has chosen to slay
