They used to be like the Sugababes - wild horses couldn't part,
and singing (twenty years or more) from the same performance chart.
But even scarey spice and posh and ginger spice - et al,
packed up the voice and song-sheet for a brand new chic locale.

And so it is with Agnes as she goes her merry way
remembering the good times and the role she had to play,
and recalling that she pondered, in times of malcontent,
a swift assassination of the cafe management!

But Agnes of the sterner stuff can balance lows and highs,
she's versatile in reticence and tact and compromise.
Now Coatbridge is her haven - her wee hamlet in the sky,
and there - with clips and skid-lid - you will see her cycling by.

''Auf wiedersehen, so long, goodbye, adieu, farewell, farewell!''
from customers and colleagues to this Coatbridge-nurtured belle.
What price her boundless dedication? What price upon her smile?
Though challenges will test her nous, she'll conquer them ..... with style.

Who hasn't pondered an assassination of management? ;-) I really enjoyed this poem. You made me want to know Agnes myself. Thank you, Sir Tommy!

yep, the dedication is a warm and sincere one, now doubt - I hope she puts in on her wall. That said, the tools of a real poet are on show here.
