An emotion to behold
It's an action, which only the bold can manage
Because they realize that to be rejected by the one they adore can damage every ounce of dignity, to which they hold
And who the hell is that person to turn away a heart of gold for a fast person, sweat, a body to hold, for the fleeting moments which tick on the clock and disappear forever like a sidewalk chalk Mona Lisa after the rain
But the pain doesn't wash away, now does it?
Because the girl that asked you to prom because she's liked you since the third grade, and you said no, why?! Because she can't cover up the fact that her weight is a bit more on the scale than the models that get paid to be perfect, but aren't perfect in any way.
And as she cries because the guy that she adores doesn't want to be the stand up guy that opens doors for the pretty girls and the girls that give it up, and take her to prom, after she so valiantly, like a warrior, but scared, like a frail bird, walked up to you and asked for you to be her date. She should have known that the only fate she had coming was that which befalls a lamb, lead to the slaughter, and the laughter, of your friends, and those that are half friends as she walks away and tries to hide her pain so she stuffs it down in her heart like you would stuff the excess garbage in a trash can when it's too full and you can't take it away, a heart full of pain. Just be a good guy for once, tell your ignorant, mean, heartless friends to shut up and run after her, because after all, you may not love her or think that one day you'll pop her the question, but she just popped the high school equivalent to you, in a way that most would consider to be the very definition of "brave" so, just say yes, it's only a day, only a date, let her have some fun, and you be the guy that she gets to say, hey, I was going to end it, get myself out of the way, but you saved me because the hope you have was more than I needed to stay and say I will rise above high school and above the shame to fulfill whatever dreams I have ever had because my dreams, I can attain!
