Waves are crashing, hearts are breaking
Finding yourself isn't as easy as it seems
Because I know that I'm chasing my own shadows in my dreams
Terrified of the sound
Of my own heart beating
For so long I knew that I didn't know
What it was like to feel okay
I didn't want to walk this earth, but I stuck it out
I found truth and happiness in
Someone wearing the same shoes as me
Needing what I had to offer
And loving every second of it
Love discovered in the years of my youth
Before life took hold and set me free of my true, humble, tortured innocence
Before I had a chance to live
And as that love grew and prospered over the years
I discovered too soon that she was the one
But a distance crushed my every wish to find my happiness in her
And as I become of age
When people look at me and see a young woman that's no longer a child
Living and discovering herself every day
The time I would finally beg to have with my teenage romance
Cut off by another
Another discovered love, too late
My heart and passion was wrapped up so tight within the one I knew I loved so dearly
That I became so unraveled with this new found happiness and love
Who today I promise to love for an eternity
Who I see myself building a future with
My heart is breaking
I'm confused, can the heart not love a multitude of different things?
And what if two people were so different, yet evenly won your affection?
How do you choose which heartstrings mean more to you? I really love the lines "Finding yourself isn't as easy as it seems
Because I know that I'm chasing my own shadows in my dreams"
This poem is really beautiful and really makes one think with the last lines "I'm confused, can the heart not love a multitude of different things?
And what if two people were so different, yet evenly won your affection?
How do you choose which heartstrings mean more to you?"

Good job and keep up the good work :) Thanks for sharing!
