[bodytext] => NOIR Endless hours Alone upon a café stool. Afloat in bitter coffee, and regrets. In the rain outside The flashing lightning; And passing headlights Turn the street to silver. Too tired to go, or to stay. Closing time; A weary sigh and out into the night. A solitary figure, Like a film noir hero in the closing scene In some old 1940’s movie, He walks out into the dark; Into the cold embrace of an empty city night; With hat pulled down, Shoulders hunched as if in expectation of a blow. The rain has stopped now, Glowing tattered clouds disperse Beneath a pale moon. Only the occasional dripping from the eaves, And the quiet splash of footsteps Breaks the stillness. But a sweet-sad blues tune In some minor chord. Plays through his mind; On his face, an ironic smile. If this was a movie The credits would begin to roll.
