hear my knees groan;
go back to bed and leave us alone!

the staircase is daring my legs to climb
while others behind us have so little time!
I’ll take each step one by one;
They’ll fly right past us while we’ve just
begun.

He wonders aloud how I came to no harm
before he was there to steady my arm…

"You know son" I tell him in make-believe rage..
"I didn’t decide to become this age!
It happened at Woodstock, an overnight hat trick!
A whole generation became geriatric!"

Honestly, once I was almost like you! Taking the stairs two by two!

Prancing about like jelly on springs
Rushing toward life on slightly damp wings!

Look at these photos!
You’re mama was hot!
How’d you suppose that you came to be got?

Pre boils and liver spots
Pre rolls of necks,
I was a catch…
I even had…. (SEX)!

I am NOT shouting, and why should I hush?
(My, you look well in that crimson red blush!)

I could tell stories, would you like to hear?
How cute you were naked from ear to pink ear?

For the price of a walk with you all round the mall;
I'll not share my mom’s tales with girlfriends and all!

I've nothing to lose, but you've so much to gain;
Just think of the stories you'll not hear again!

Come sit beside me son, pull up a chair;
Let us vow that our stories will only meet here;

Let's raise a cold beer to our secrets untold
And to moments like this, may they never grow old!
