bear rubbed his rear against the trunk
banging head on low branch: k-thump,
now mystified for he had just awoken
he wanted some outgrowth as a token,

you do not want to claw within me
whispered the tall black walnut tree,
long, long and long here have i stood
perchance only meant for piano wood,

tho many winds blow i am unswayed
today one elf sat beneath my shade,
cannot be hurt for my rings are inside
i tell you truly i have nothing to hide,

my roots are deep and verily strong
thereof myself; fruit i give for songs,
for years i have grown in this domain
honestly only needing quenching rain,

several boys used swords in a crusade
horse left upon my bark lily white mane,
a poetry reader beneath leaves of me
even gave a nickname; i'm the poetree,

the nature of squirrels laughter apropos
O carrion crow of death will come slow,
flames of the wildfire left me to survive
mourning doves accept a colourful sky,

humans of cognition see more than me
whilst others see only leaves in the way,
living in this forest woodland time spent
reaching up to a universal realm sapient,

as spring hummingbirds devise their plans
up high am i, far above rivers alluvial fan,
from coyotes rabbits run to meadows peak
therefore growls the bear: i hear you speak.

Trees can tell their history by it's rings but sadly, it must first be cut down. If creation could only talk what a story it could tell. This was refreshing and interesting.

I love this. It makes me think of the saying, "If these walls could talk..." Ahh, the wisdom we could receive if only those mighty leaves could rustle up the words for us to hear. Beautiful job with this poem, very original.

Super cool, Nessa. I enjoy writing from the perspective of beings/objects other than myself. It's refreshing as it allows a different pattern of thought to emerge.

What i really dig about your poetry is how it allows me to cede myself to the flow and become enmeshed in the message...so well done.

I feel blessed to be able to absorb your words, Nessa. Thank you.

Methinks Mr. Kilmer would applaud, my dear!
An astute take on nature.
Wonderful piece
Thank you, yet again!!!

Hi, One has to Love the wonders of nature. It Is strange how many people do Love trees. I have no Idea why but we do. I always Loved three certain trees and they were cut down for no reason at all. I enjoyed this so much, It just sang off the page and touched me somewhere deep. I Loved the flow of the read, one vision seemlessly flowing Into the next. Your black walnut tree was alive In the mind. Your canvas was painted with vision and skill. You know the tree sees much and so you tell us. I Love trees, I Loved the write. Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.
