When life held the promise of all things,
But Mistress Fate, it’s hard for me to say
Took the shine off your golden wedding ring.

And Mark, well, Mark followed in the pain,
With hope, you laid it all on the line,
But the booze and the tears, the screaming nights of fear
Crushed your precious heart a second time.

Older now, your innocence long gone…
Dave stepped in to claim you for his own,
But the scars, so deep- on your head and in your heart
In a bed made for two you felt alone.

Other arms have held you in the morning,
Other eyes have looked deep into your soul-
And other times you’ve shared,
With men who swear they cared,
Have shaped you to the person that I know.

Now, we’re up to speed, to you and me,
The wheels that we’ve turned have run to smooth-
Through the damage of our past, we’ve found true love at last
And the gifts we give each other only soothe.

Other arms have held you in the morning,
Other eyes have looked deep into your soul-
And other times you’ve shared,
With men who swear they cared,
Have shaped you to the person that I know.

I predict you get 1000 reads on this when the word gets out! You have written the story of how love finally reaches us, what it teaches us, and how it shapes us to be ready for the love that will be our best and last.
This speaks for so many, so well! Thank you for putting our lives into your words; it is a pleasure to look into your mirror!

It sounds as though you two realize you have found something special in each other. There's a saying that sometimes things have to fall apart, so something better can fall together.
Cheers to many more happy memories with one another.
