So you worked yourself down to the bone
With all those twelve hour shifts
Spent every goddamn night alone
With your back and knees all stiff
"Can't anybody help me? Does anybody care?"
Didn't your daddy tell you son? Ain't none of it fair.

So you never found a woman
So you never had no child
So your life was long and boring
And your youth was short and wild
"Do I really look that worn out? Is that why they all stare?"
Didn't your last girlfriend tell you son? Ain't none of it fair.

So you never left your hometown
And you don't know why you stayed
So Uncle Sam took thirty three percent
Every time that you got paid
"How the hell am I supposed to get ahead, can't anybody share?"
Didn't your senator tell you son? Ain't none of it fair.

So you got yourself the black lung
That classic backwoods song and dance
Between the coal dust and the cigarettes
Boy, you never had a chance
"Haven't they found a cure for this? In China or over there?"
Didn't your doctor tell you son? Ain't none of it fair.

Maybe you'll find a way to beat this
Or maybe you'll pass slow in bed
Why the hell'd ya go to college?
You'll be forgotten when you're dead.
"I think I finally got it. I think that now I know.
Ain't nothin fair in this life, but I coulda made it so." A powerful theme, and very well articulated. I really dig the last line. It's so TRUE.

Whoever the hell you are, I'm glad you are back. I came on here in March this year. Be cool, and I want more...more.....MORE!!!

"Don't they know I don't have endless words, an everlasting flair?
Didn't a poet tell you, son? We all want you to share!"

I am SO GLAD you decided to make a comeback and let me be the second to say WELCOME BACK!
This read with a wonderful swingy motion, and what a country western SONG this would make!
A lot of work here--thank you for not putting it out until you had distilled it to perfection.
May we have some more please?
