Until the past is my present.
Living on borrowed time
I am a bandit of the ages.
I can live secluded in my dreams,
For years without regret.
But I am wondering now,
If it isn't time to put it down.
To put her to rest,
And move on into tomorrow.
Carrying the weight of this love is relentless,
It is crushing to hold up the emptiness of this love.
I don't want to miss the opportunities that lie ahead.
New horizons I know are waiting,
While I stay anchored in the harbor of memories.
Safe from the storms,
Safe from adventure and new romances.
You can only subsist for so long on remembered romance,
Lost smiles and broken hopes.
This is the flotsam and jetsom,
The lagan and derelict of whatever is left.
I am wreckage of a lustful misstep
Ill be damned if I wouldn't do it again.

Really an awesome write. chock full of healing. Emily Dickinson said love is both the singing bird and the mountain it dies flying into, not paying attention for the singing.

Glad you are letting go of the that bag of rocks.

Loving all the nautical references!! :)

I like the level of self reflection present in this piece. It is the kind of introspection that promotes change. Wonderful lines, as per usual you have a way with words that holds the reader captive.

It is crushing to hold up the emptiness of this love.

Woah. That line has some cement boots on! Good stuff.

While I stay anchored in the harbor of memories.
Safe from the storms,
Safe from adventure and new romances.

You nailed it. Being complacent is a double-edged sword. We think we are protecting ourselves, but sometimes we are just preventing good things from coming our way.

Love this write.

this seems a positive decision to move forward.. nothing
ventured nothing gained- right? if love dies on one end
then the other suffers, to let it go brings new life not only to
your life but to your step and each breath, it has saddened
me to see you suffer, you have a beautiful soul and so
much to offer- to one worthy!! i like how the endline
confirms this new outlook on life and shows you still see
humour and conviction, truly beautifully penned!

hugs n' love nessa

New adventures bring about new memories,
It takes time
to get back into it
but
getting back to it is a must........
