In the automobile you have the steering wheel To direct you on your path And the farther you can go The more you have gas
And so that the same old song doesn't drive you insane You can take your baby in For a routine oil change
And you might hit the ground running From the moment you were born And you can begin again anew Getting new tires when they are worn
We can connect how we care for our car With how we live life And comparing the windshield with the rear view mirror Gives us great life insight
Compared to the windshield The rear view isn't much at all Next to that puny glass slab That crystal rectangle stands tall
And if the windshield represents the future And the rear view the past We can't focus on what's behind us Because what matters most is approaching fast
My car taught me this This theory not mine There was my two-minute case To leave to past where it is-
Behind

wow, so relevant and sublime , loving this sooo much, thanks for writing it , you have helped me out with this one , a poem I needed to read and a poem I would love to read over and over again x brilliant.
Today I had a song by
TAME IMPALA called ELEPHANT stuck in my head and ive always loved this line the best,
He pulled the mirrors off his Cadillac
'Cause he doesn't like it looking like he looks back
anyway here are the lyrics
Elephant"
Well, he feels like an elephant
Shaking his big grey trunk for the hell of it
He knows that you're dreaming about being loved by him.
Too bad your chances are slim
And it's not like mister shook to get shy when they ask him who is on top
There must be something deep down in the dark down there
He's not too easily scared
He's got friends but they got fear
Wouldn't care too much if he just disappeared
Oh, look see there he is now coming down the stairs
Here he comes
He pulled the mirrors off his Cadillac
'Cause he doesn't like it looking like he looks back
He talks like his opinion is a simple fact
Somebody grabbed his collar
He cried the whole way home
No one been remembered a thing when they saw him again
That's how it is 'til the end
Yeah
