My kin the people of the low mountains
Riders of the west wind
Keepers of the mist
Where the rain smashes the cliffs and shadows coat the Winter sky
Darkened eyes scour the scarred valley
Sentinels against meagre moon
This timewashed stronghold moulds deep tomb for brittle lives
By the twist of ancient water children beat defiant drum
As light cracked heavens throw vengeant spears onto the land
Bleak landscape echoes with the voice of our forefathers
Brethren who lay sleeping in sacred rock catacombs
We paint our lives across this barren, unforgiving canvas
This theatre of war daubed with the blood of countless enemies
Each day will erode us, weaken our bodies like a sip of slow poison
All mortal, we passage from vibrant youth to inevitable decay
Every sunset drawing out vitality, soul and spirit
Until we are dust. Your words are colorful even as you seek to describe the drab and mundane. Like a full orchestra playing in the rain, you cannot hide the beauty of the language you choose to play your symphony. May you play until we are dust.
Really lovely.

Vivid descriptors you painted! The ending is morose but effective.
Nicely done.

Run rabbit run
dig that hole
forget the sun

and when at last the work is done
don't sit down
its time to dig another one

Breathe lyrics

Breathe, breathe in the air.
Don't be afraid to care.
Leave but don't leave me.
Look around and choose your own ground.

Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.

Run, rabbit run.
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down it's time to dig another one.

For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race towards an early grave.

This was absolutely powerful with it imagery, love the whole Brave heart theme behind it, you killed it, I have always loved the movie and the descriptive imagery took me to that same place, the concluding line was just right for the poems entirety, the message delivered with such penned passion. I loved it!
