Love, you are so strange,
all the feelings you arrange
then the absence, and the pain,
till you appear again.

Amore, you fickle thing,
can break a voice or have it sing
make us chase the golden ring,
to only lose everything.

temperamental and contrite,
keeping hearts awake all night
breaking others as they sleep,
even as we fall too deep.

I thought you were the shining hope,
the only sure way to cope
now I get to finally see,
Love, the greatest tragedy.

Nicely written. I get what you're saying here, but I will play devil's advocate; maybe because of all the crappy stories that have made the news in my part of the world recently...I will respectfully say I think the greatest tragedy is a lack of love.

This poem has almost the same rhythm as my poem "All That's Left is Love"

"The heart beats inside the chest
Thoughts evolve of great unrest
When things implode from more to less
All that's left is love"

Well written , as always. A poetic truth on the often ephemeral nature of romantic love. There is another love, an undaunted and
everlasting variety that we have for our parents and our children. Always happy to stop off on your page.
