I had her life in my grip.
Locked hand to hand through the tension.
Weightless like air, high in suspension.
I refused to relinquish my grasp.
For I couldn't stand to watch her plunder
into the depths of the terrain.
Nor could I carry on without her grace.
Her majestic essence, my queen.
Her beauty shined like all stars did.

Miracles happen in contingent circumstances.
This was one miracle that didn't stand a chance.
No time for a moment of weakness.
No time to give in.
The rope that I clung to for her life was wearing thin.
Like salt upon a string.
Disjointed bones and cartilage birthed excruciating pain.
But deep, painful emotions override the physical.
And I know in the end, enduring such a loss would be detrimental.
I can recover from wounds, but a lost soul is an eternal heartache.

It seems her fate was never an option of mine.
No matter how tight I held, no change could be made.
She chose to relieve the pressure among
our hands that I struggled to preserve.
Her decision to let go.
I reached out as far as I could,
but I couldn't regain control.
She looked deep into my eyes
as I watched her fall and fall and fall.
The look of desperation and complete fear upon her face mirrored the expression on mine.
Causing a waterfall to stem from my eyes.

To watch her fall, knowing there was nothing that I could do
to halt the terrible fate that was approaching, killed me inside.
But I continued to watch until
she successfully came to a crash landing.
I watched her life perish into darkness like a sunset.
The beautiful image of life I once knew became a lifeless figure.
Gone for eternity.
That waterfall is now an ocean.

I hope this is not based on anything you have had to endure...Instead I hope this is just a hauntingly well written poem with scary realism attached to it.
