Choosing Fate

They sped through the busy streets
Chancing murder and death
Dodging the police, and on coming traffic
Risking their very last breaths
And when the inevitable crash came
And someone chose their fate
While others came out injured
The offenders lived that day
So away they went, the roads safe again
Young offenders they were, did no time
Small punsihments, slap on the wrist
Maybe probabtion, a $5000 fine
And then there was my best friend
Who was just having a night away
They didn't do anything wrong
Sober, law abiding, coming home that day
And when the other two passengers climbed out
They couldn't save him, he died
His life was slowly taken away from him
Upside down, in front of their eyes

| Wow. That is sad. *sighs* Well, I'm really sorry that you had to go through with that, and that your friend had to go through with that. This was a good poem. Hope you can cope with your loss. |
