and paper lined up for me,
but the passing of years
and blurring of tears
is making truth harder to see-
ideas when young
sprung like gazelles,
hopping from word to word,
popping like rings my fingers would sing
like an untainted spring
as poetry flowed from me.

But the age in my eyes
as wisdom arrived showed
life isn't a skipping stone,
flipping on water,
dancing to droplets,
ideas floating to roam.
Parsimony grips,
my fingers they slip-
not willing to write from
a soul steeped in night,
I search again for the day.
This circle of wisdom and frivolous balance
must be the key to the perfect way.

This was somewhat sad but redeeming.
Wow what great poem with a beautiful flow.
Time has aged us but your mind is still young and sharp. Beautiful!

there's a thread in this poem I can't escape
this poor red headed little boy writing poetry late
into the night because he wanted to; confronted with
the inconsistencies and the trappings, the anxieties
to prove himself, skipping over all the possibilities
skipping over all the dreams that were once thought
to only be youth
Paradise is there, you might have thought
before being saddled down not seeing anymore
in what someone said
This forsaken place to lead a life
could never be found inside of something so sweet
because they were blind and did not see
I now neither do you
Dear Mike, it's not about us
There is so much for each of us to be grateful
If we open our eyes and ears and hearts

I should be grateful too!

Great poem BTW!

Peace!

Yes, and the ability to edit a response to a very good poem. Somehow that escapes us. LOL to myself, LOLTM

Used to sit under this old weeping willow tree, biggest tree around across the street from my house when I was young/ next to an old farm house that sat next to an open track of land. It had a big thick trunk and it threw shadows on my bedroom during the day.
There was this one old street light where all the kids would play when it got dark. The things I saw, the things I believed were real. That's what you write.

Peace!

Life is a poem, no matter balanced or not. This is great as it opens up thought and creativity.

I began writing poetry at the age of 13. That was 22 years ago.
Time passes, even if we don't want it to. We grow to become adult, even if we don't want to grow up.
Things happen during the years that pass; these events make us who we are.
This was a fabulous write.
Great job.

This seems to convey the idea of the whole "read a book campaign" where each story would take you on a new adventure.

Picturing touching the pen to paper and the colors and words and pictures flowing out from the paper like a drug trip in a movie... is actually rather fun.

There's a bit of a three-line sing-song sort of flow to part of the first and beginning of the second stanza which I like.
