Array ( [sid] => 182176 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => New Ghost Chronicles (part one) [time] => 2015-11-22 13:35:48 [hometext] => if you/'/ve ever appreciated a poem by me, please read this one. it/'/s a departure from my norm. it/'/s all about how i/'/m pretty sure i/'/d make one brash New Ghost. [bodytext] => the New Ghost Chronicles (part 1)
---------------------------------

New Ghost flying blind,
hunting for a Haunt.
learns to not look demons in the eye,
for it/'/s new eyes demons want.
learns to leave the Restless Dead alone,
or else they/'/ll never leave.
they/'/ll eat you out of grave and tomb,
and curse what you believe.

some ghosts have waited lifetimes
to be free of dirty skin
but then they draw a shorter straw
so it/'/s back in skin again
New Ghost insists "no draw, no straw"
is the safest way past skin
and so when told to choose; halo or wing
New Ghost chose the wind.

slowly New Ghost grows
into those monstrous wings he chose,
then leaps from highest heaven
to the latest hell that froze.
"No Ghosts Allowed!" posted proud
by demons who would be Prince,
so New Ghost unfurls his gossamer wings
and ain/'/t seen Hell/'/s Halls since.

instead, New Ghost flits to the moon,
where most ghosts go to freeze...
freeze away whatever troubles
the wispy whispers on the barest breeze.
there, New Ghost won/'/t let old ghosts teach,
know-it-all needs not a thing,
so Old Ghosts chuckle through fog and teeth
as New Ghost grooms his wings.

with Moon behind and Noon somewhere,
New Ghost craves just a Haunt.
maybe a musty mansion,
without a Worry, Wish, or Want...
or maybe some lonely patch of road
where all the locals know;
There the Dead outnumber the Warm
and the Warm are just Dead...Slow.

New Ghost grins at what he is
as old ghosts old smiles slide,
for the future of the After/'/s Life
is New Ghost, draped in pride.

A very unique captive poem you wrote.
I really liked it. Some unique phrases and words as well. Definitely not the norm. Well done!!!!!!

James
