It wouldn't at the time seemed so mean
It seemed that these were simply tongue lashings
I couldn't understand why they happened

I'm not by nature confrontational
Fighting back to me seemed too consequential
So I tried so much just to dismiss these scoldings
And hide them in my personal building

I saw little point in their value
I wanted to forget them so much too
Maybe the other side was having a bad day
It was surely that, to myself, I'd say

It was only today I saw the point
And Coach Walsh, the spokesperson for this, I do appoint

I read this-one time, he said

Criticism is like beef jerky,
It's tough and hard to chew indeed
But it has everything you need to succeed

Criticism helps people learn - it tells you what your strengths are and what you need to work on. It may hurt at the time, but when you get a chance to sit and think about it, sometimes it helps - not always, but sometimes.
Great write.

I would add the criticism IS like beef jerky, but only if created in a smokehouse producing a constructive flavor.

Good poem...enjoyed the read.

Very good! If criticism is done in a non-harmful way, yes it can help.
