Today I sit here all alone
missing my home across the sea
I sit here in deep thought
I honor the fallen, brothers and sisters to me

I listen to country music
dedications to heroes who gave sacrifice
So many men and women served
and didn’t have to think twice

Today is a day we honor
it is Memorial Day
This is when we honor the fallen
just being quiet for a moment, with nothing to say

Our moments of silence
are out of solitude and respect
Their sacrifice of dying
is what gives our freedoms effect

So stop what it is your doing
take a few moments of your time to spare
Give a prayer and thanks
for the freedoms of which you care

So here I sit
shedding tears all alone today
I honor all my Veteran brothers and sisters
that had their lives taken away

May you all rest in peace
and your spirits guard the heavens above
On this day we all remember you
and dedicate out never ending love

My husband loves this. After two tours in Vietnam, he has fallen comrades as well. I saw a bumper sticker today; it said:
If you can read this; thank a teacher
If its in English; thank a veteran.
Your last lines say it all so well Wayne.
