I decide to take a hot shower
Stirred awake by something while dreaming
Foggy; much like the mirror steaming

Onto the mat my feet are stepping
Faintly I hear a sudden schlepping
Masked somewhat by the faucet leaking
Cannot deny there came a creaking

Over pounding heart, quiet rapping
Outside the bathroom door, rap-tapping
My stomach contents begin to sour,
Evil reigns in the bewitching hour

With quickened breath and tears a streaming
The door opens and something/'/s gleaming
Gnashing yellow teeth to my horror
Soulless eyes that shook me to my core

It stepped inside, skillfully trapping
Its raspy breath like thunder clapping
Speaking slowly, perhaps with sorrow,
Demanding of my soul to borrow

Licking its lips, and with face beaming,
My voice lost, but silently screaming
A cackle, then its wings a flapping,
Turned, and began eagerly lapping

Frightened to move, I simply cower-
From this supernatural power
Slowly sinking to the cold, damp floor
I awoke on this Earth, nevermore.

This was a great write indeed.
Had an awesome flow too. You had me riveted to my seat. I thought you were going to pull a fast one in the end and say it was your dog licking your face.

Twists and turns woven through out creative writing. Dark writing that invokes excitement. Moves the heart into unknown spaces. Always a pleasure and fun to read.

Amazing write. Has an awesome flow and i have to agree that it keeps you in your seat. And if you know Poe/'/s Raven then you can use its rhythm and suits it perfectly. Keep up the great work

God, dreary and scary. This sort of reminded me of the Buffy where her mom had lost her marbles and this being was there to eat her brains or sumthin.

Very graphic imagery. Absolutely loved this!

Poe would be proud! This yanks the reader out of sensibility and takes them along right in your bare wet feet! I was expecting a heroic rescue finale, but no, our hero just succumbs. That signature of helplessness brought back the bathtub scene from Pyscho..was a perfect fate for your theme, summed in the powerful last two lines. Quote us all:
Wewantmore!
