Creme colored couch,
horn rimmed glasses bought
to bring out the owl.
Perched in his nest of black leather,
ears attenuated for an appropriate
lean in to a howl.
That piece of paper
in fancy Gothic font
placed just so above that owlish head
for vertical couch prey to see,
if they want.
Just when the pauses seemed pregnant
with solution,
(this damn dam is about to break!)
the couch began vibrating,
and the maniac’s laugh escaped my lungs
as the pen poised owl first stole to his watch,
then the fifty minute timer,
and did not speak,
but his eyes conveyed;
“Your hour is up. Let’s revisit this next week.”

Act in haste; repent in leisure!
A vivid description of the psychiatrist/'/s office, furnished and festooned to impress and seduce the patient (no doubt to justify the fee!) into emotional surrender.
The line : (this damn dam is about to break!) snapped by head back to reality from the somber setting. Love the change of pace, and the final line is a goodbye as crisp as a salute! Lovely.

Well I pray I/'/m never in that same situation but at least it has given me an insight in case I do find myself there.
Always thought it was an easy way to make money though, listening to other people tell you all about themselves
