Enslaved us to live;
Returning so little for all that we give.

We became too much trouble to manage and breed;
Control and keep healthy, clothe, house and feed.
So they took what they came for, and called it a day;
And left us behind to find our own way.

The burdens of freedom fell squarely upon us;
We struggled, made war, and drew lines in the dust. .
The joke is on them; We more than survived!
No longer captives; we actually thrived!

Were watching the stars; and we don’t wish them well.
We hope they go far; (but you never can tell).

We’ve tasted of freedom, and should they return;
They’ll find what they taught us cannot be unlearned;
Far better for certain to die where we stand;
Than live on our knees at another’s command. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 123 [topic] => 68 [informant] => softerware [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => fictional )

Perfect! It is so very, very odd.....see my poem right above yours, soft. I DID NOT read yours first. Uncanny as all get out!

Very well penned! This poem is amazing! What I grasp from it is that we were originally from another planet or universe and brought here and left here to die, but we lived and became more than what the ancestors thought! Am I correct?

Maybe we really are part of some magnificent experiment long ago.
You could well start the conspiracy pot stirring all over again with this.
Are we truly alone in the universe, perhaps not!!
