Except of course the undertaker. A local well-known troublemaker. Determined she should meet her maker.

Despite a multitude of tries; she always found an alibi; Too wise to meet her own demise!
But in due time we all must cease; as life began, it must retreat.

Reading by the fire one night; the flue snapped closed an held there tight; although she pulled with all her might.
When she could stand the smoke no more; she opened windows, opened doors; the moment death was hoping for.

He seemed a sort of good luck charm; come to save her from all harm, and lifted her into his arms.
He wasnt fearful, wasnt grim; he drew her gently close to him; her life light flickered, growing dim.
That, they say, is how she died; Peacefully and long denied.

May we each keep fate outguessed; may our lives be thusly blessed;
And bring to us a gentle guide;
In whose arms we can decide; That home waits on the other side.

In the old days they used to keep the bedroom window open for those who were ready to go. Great write!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
