I watch you drive away
Out of my reach
Out of my life
You promised you would be the one
To last all my life
And now that it's over
I've promised myself
Never again
Will I be played
I will become the player
Never again
Will my heart be broken
For I will become the heartbreaker
A seductive role
I will play
With an icy center
Not able to be melted
You are the reason
My eyes are wide open
When I kiss
Always looking to make sure
There isn't a steely blade
Aimed at my back
It's ironic
How roles are reversed

Great write! As I read this, I thought of what I'm going to be after my divorce is final...will I be like you describe in this poem...never trusting again because someone has done me so wrong....I wish I could say I won't...time will tell. Funny how everyone says don't let one person make you loose faith in love, that's much easier said than done when your heart has been ripped apart, and promises have been broken!
