Array ( [sid] => 19892 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => JUST LET ME BE YOUR FRIEND [time] => 2003-07-03 20:35:00 [hometext] => I have loved people all my life. This was written to a dear friend trying to show, that all I had to give was friendship and love. Hoping those two things would be enough! [bodytext] => When I was small, and not very tall.
I loved creatures of all sizes, shapes, and form
No one taught me this,
was just natural for me, was just "Norm."

Butterflies, grasshoppers, snakes,
birds, kitties, puppies, anything alive.
I doctored them when they were sick,
with lots of love, helped them survive!

One day I ventured down an alley
located behind my house.
There I found cement "Ash-Pits' all around.
They were the best 'stopping places' in town!

I' d catch everyone early,
as they emptied their trash,
I met all the neighbors in one big 'flash!'
We'd visit, laugh, and sometimes cry.
I found I loved people!
It didn't make a difference to me why?

I never saw their outsides,
nor the clothes they would wear.
I sensed their 'insides."
Their hearts, their souls, and I'd care!

"Just Let Me Be Your Friend!"
Was the message I emitted to all!
I'm not too little to have friends,
I may not be too wise,
But my heart is filled with love.
If only you would open your eyes!

Seems strange somehow now.
As I recall those years gone by,
I'm 63 years older, and with a sigh....
I can honestly say, I haven't changed.
I've been rearranged, but my heart
is still in tact!

'Just Let Me Be Your Friend,"
To love you, to care, to always be there....
My heart is still filled with love.
The best way to keep it there,
is to give it away, and to share!

And so my dear friend,
Little did you know when you paid your fee....
You'd find a True Friend,
Out of your past, an old friend,
One to last, one, just like me! [comments] => 10 [counter] => 229 [topic] => 16 [informant] => lovingcritters [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FriendshipPoetry )

Dear LovingWhispers,
What kind words youy left for me. I love people, but I'm like you also LovingWhispers, Critters don't hurt you ever, and people will. So like you they are my favorite friends, except for my dear son who has never hurt me. I'll be posting his poem here soon. Look for "What Do I See?" Its a tribute to him.
Thank you again, and where do I get to read yours? I'm new on the block!
Warm poetic love,
lovingcritters

This is one of those few poems that really get inside me. I love the way you mentioned how you did not judge anyone from their appearance, but from their soul (''inside''). I think people could learn a lot from this message.
