Array ( [sid] => 20409 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Matthew's Song [time] => 2003-07-14 15:05:00 [hometext] => My first born son, Matthew, died from SIDs when he was 10 weeks old. I came home from a class I was taking and wrote this song for him, on June 18th, 2002, on his 11th birthday. Time heals, but time doesn't forget. [bodytext] => From the day we first met,
You were so special to me.
You enslaved my heart,
I knew it would never be free.
The time we spent was so,
Beautiful and sweet.
You gave me such a feeling,
No other emotions could compete.
Now I have to go on,
For there is no rescue.
From the pain in my heart,
Cause I’ll always miss you.

(Chorus)
So I see your smile,
Shining in the stars so bright.
And I wonder if you can see,
How I cried for you tonight.
You’re never far from my thoughts,
I think about you every day.
I miss you and I love you,
Can you hear me pray?

You know it just isn’t right,
And it just isn’t fair.
That we can’t be together,
And we will never share.
A sunrise in the morning,
The day’s first golden light.
Or a sunset in the evening,
And wishing on a star at night.
I wrote this song for you,
The day you would have been eleven.
But you’re not here,
Cause you live in heaven.

(Chorus)
So I see your smile,
Shining in the stars so bright.
And I wonder if you can see,
How I cried for you tonight.
You’re never far from my thoughts,
I think about you every day.
I miss you and I love you,
Can you hear me pray?

We had such a short time,
You know I never knew.
That someday I’d be here,
Without you.
I always thought that,
We’d have years to spend.
I never imagined,
Just how it would end.
As I stand here today,
There is no one to blame.
As I stand here tomorrow,
I’ll be whispering your name.

(Chorus)
So I see your smile,
Shining in the stars so bright.
And I wonder if you can see,
How I cried for you tonight.
You’re never far from my thoughts,
I think of you every day.
I miss you and I love you,
Matthew, can you hear me pray?

Sigh..... This is truly beautiful.... This must have been so painful to write, yet so comforting.... this brought tears to my eyes...as I can identify with it. My baby would have been 17 this year..and the pain never goes away..I know.. I hope you find some form of comfort..
Hugs
Jenni

Dear Dr_Calm,
Only those that share your moments can truly understand the void, and emptiness left in the very pit of our souls when we lose a loved
one someone we planned to spend the rest of our lives with! I found that time does not heal....loss is an adjustment, and each time we do something without that person, then we learn to cope, that's what it's all about. Just learning to cope from day to day!
Please find my poem dear Dr._Calm...I'm posting it today....about the loss of my husband. I think it will really help you ,like it always has me!
Beautifully written song. I hope you can find someone to sing it....the whole world deserves to hear your heart!
My poems is entitled "No One Ask!"

This is my fourth attempt at commenting.I have read and ended up in tears, lost for words. So I would walk away and come back to try again. So far so good.;) Such a deep and painful loss will always be.I didn't know what to say so I have lit a candle for Matthew. When I went to where I have all the candles for lil ones lost,I realised that with the lighting of Matthew's,there was now 18.Yes,how ironic..that 18 is also Matthews birthday. :)
Such a beautiful, heart felt and loving song.PLease do something about having this recorded. You never know...and you just may raise money for the research of SIDS.
Bless you and your family..Remember that Matthew watches over you and would be very proud of his Daddy (((huggers)))

I understand your loss and have no words that could adequately express the feelings I have at this moment. Take joy in the knowing, loving and everlating memory you have for your beloved son and he will always hear you.....Apple
