Array ( [sid] => 21992 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => abused wife [time] => 2003-08-17 03:45:00 [hometext] => in this poem it is the woman who is telling the story
it is about how her husband beats her and how she tries to get away but ends up going back to him
staying with him until he goes too far
but by then its too late... [bodytext] => Don’t cry for me
Don’t lie when they ask about me
Don’t sit up all alone
Waiting for me to phone
I thought you would have known
I wouldn’t be coming home

Don’t think about me
Don’t try to reach out to me
You’ve only yourself to blame
Didn’t hear me scream your name
Things can never be the same
Since your fist became your shame

Don’t wait for me
Don’t try and make it up to me
No matter what you buy
You’ll still make me cry
I cant ever again be by your side
Things would have been easier if I’d just died

Don’t ask about me
Don’t think you’ll still be with me
Don’t sing to me that song
You know I’m not that strong
You make it so hard to move on
Making me believe what you did wasn’t wrong

Don’t care for me
Don’t make me think you’re loving me
We cant just start anew
You’ll still so the things you do
Beat me black and blue
But I’ll come back to you

Don’t touch me
Don’t let me cry then hold me
Hold a gun against my head
Rape me in my own bed
Give me a ring and we’ll be wed
Before to long I will be dead

Don’t pray for me
Don’t tell them that you’re missing me
Refuse to say your last goodbye
Contemplate suicide
Tell people the real reason why
In your arms I did die

Don’t leave flowers for me
Don’t ever forget what you did to me
You were the one who made me stay
I could never run away
You were so angry on that day
But I let you have your way

Don’t cry for me
Don’t lie when they ask about me
Admit that in our home abuse was rife
That you were the one who killed your wife
Stabbed her 88 times with a sharpened knife
That you’re anger stole my life

this brought back to many memories for me.You captured all the thoughts and feelings of the abused wife in this poem. I got away but someone I know did not three months ago she dies at the hands of her husband and he killed himself. This happened infront of their three children they saw the entire thing unfold. I pray for all the woamn who are still in these relationships that they and their children can move on to a healthy happy life as they so diserve.

Tinka_Belle, this was the rawest, most emotional rollercoast you have put me through yet! That was truely beautiful! As the tears welled up in my eyes, I wanted to run over there and take you away from that type of life. You are too beautiful and loving to have to endure this... but we all have lessons to learn, I hope you can overcome this, I don't just hope, I know you are brave enough to do so. Don't give up on yourself, you are the one who holds you down. This piece was truely an eye opener for anyone who hasn't experianced spousal abuse. Please get away from this type of man... he will only hurt you. It would be a sad day on earth if we lost you, that's for sure! Please please please read what you've written here, and learn from it, for that is what poetry is; a window into our own souls, our own dreams, and our own needs. Poetry let's us understand ourselves, and our situations in the truest, rawest, form of information there is, WORDS! God bless, sweetheart.

My sister much like me is abused by her husband but mine left when I was 5 months pregnant with our son. At that point my son gave me the strength to tell him to stay gone but her much unlike me hasn't told her abusive husband to stay away. It generally is the womans fault for not being strong enough to run and not stop running. My sister I fear must learn the hard way, but I do pray that this child will give her the strength she needs not only for her but her 3 kids.
