a dark blackened hole, inside of my veins,
In which, through my life, my soul,
seems to dance,
I'd wish, I had another, childhood chance,
As time makes one wiser, and heals this blight,
I walk life, with meaning, my days, are my light,
the black widow's venom, now only is rot,
though my soul, holds the terror,
I wish .... I forgot,
The ways of a demon, that unwelcome mat,
today, I find ways, to shed out the past,
a fragment of sour, a small piece of gloom,
my soul has no courage, to give it the room,
Through words of my spirit,
the table's have turned,
that childhood terror, I have now burned,
If everything given, in life, is a lesson,
I've learned to forgive,
though I send out .... no blessing,
Those childhood memories, I dare to, then speak,
the black shadow, of blackness,
worst than a creep,
by such, now a law, this was a form of abuse,
I do hold her liable, there is no other excuse,
As time leaves me dreaming,
of what a child should be,
I'm glad mine has ended, now I am free,
free from the terror, free from the fright,
warmness surrounds me,
as I'm kissed every night,
If life is my blessing, it seems that I've won,
now as I dance, my soul has begun,
What lingered in childhood,
no child should bear,
mine is now gone, no-one can repair,
As I set .... into galaxy, this world, of mine,
every star, brings a purpose,
to seek, as I find,
Each wind that blows warm,
surrounds me with love,
I am eased from the pain, and soothed with a hug,
That painful beginning, seems farther away,
as I travel the path, ... I ... thee climber of day,
beautiful music, now echoes my heart,
I thee child, once torn apart! [comments] => 6 [counter] => 251 [topic] => 39 [informant] => Valerie_Pearson [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 30 [ratings] => 6 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Grief )

Valerie my dear you are one talented lady...as for your poem it made me cry...I believe every child is entitled to a safe happy childhood and to know that there are people out there who can so easily abuse their own well it just sickens me...all of your poems that I have read thus far are amazing...keep them coming...

Suzy, this is what my oldest sister treated me like, she was jealous of me since I was born

I wished to make a comment, but the words are difficult to find. You write so well, that the pictures you paint are perhaps too vivid for me to deal with. The horror that was your life for so long, leaves me stricken with grief. I am not naive, I realise this goes on, but your words have shone a light upon this dark and usually hidden subject.

I wish you every happiness Valerie.

Holly

Thank you Holly, sometimes God gives us the worst to begin with, but he leaves me a rainbow,
when it pours,

Val Part 2 is awfully well written for a start. I like the way it gradually gets a little bit better then a little bit more. It's like climbing a hill and reaching the top where the view opens out to a lovely valley and then it's all downhill...

Something I''m learning about myself from YPDC and particularly yourself is how I always avoid tough unhappy books TV shows poems etc.which others seem to go for (see where all the reads reach high numbers). I suppose it comes with age (78)
I've got selfish and recluse when I can still offer others a helping hand and cheer them up a bit. Even if it's only a funny verse or two.
