Setiap pagi bila kau bangkit
Dari tidur untuk menyambut
Ketibaan fajar yang indah berseri
Ingatilah aku dalam kenanganmu.

Ingatilah aku dalam kenanganmu
Untuk setiap minit daripada riwayatmu
Tiap-tiap saat dan tiap-tiap hari
Kenangan manis yang dulu dikongsi kita
Ingatilah aku dalam impianmu

Ingatilah aku dalam impianmu
Setiap kali Sang Suria terbenam
Lalu pulang melesapkan dirinya
Pada waktu malam sebelum kau tidur
Jangan lupakanku dan ingatilah aku-
Ingatilah aku dalam doamu.

Namun,
Apa gunanya aku minta doaanmu?
Apa gunanya aku bersusah payah
Berusaha demi nama dan maruahmu...
Kau akan lupakanku:
Yang pahit dan yang manis
Sama lesap dari kenangan
Dan aku cuma menjadi semangat
Yang tak bakal muncul kembali

Lama kelamaan
Tetulang yang putih
Dikering matahari yang maha kejam
Akan lesapkan jasadku
Pasir-pasir gurun akan
Ghaibkan semuanya, tertimbus
Buat selama-lamanya. [comments] => 10 [counter] => 241 [topic] => 43 [informant] => Qohinoor [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

Hey, wow! I didn't know of anyone who's posted up malay poems on your-poetry.com before. I've tried to write them too (only when I'm forced to, like when it's coming close to merdeka day and the teachers decide to give us a little extra bit of hell) but it's neverr come out as well and emotionally stirring as yours. And I usually don't believe in this sentiment, but, "Malaysia boleh!"

Aiya, no need to be so kan cheong over my what lah! it's just that you know, you stay in other people's country one, nobody says apa khabar, dunno what is durian, dun have kari laksa or sate, you can go gila - some of my fren got die one - so I write this in bm one bcos got no one speak bm there.

And also last time in school we never know how to enjoy becos most of the time we all only main-main - dunno how to sit still - it's only after you go overseas that you fell like writing bm.

Note:

the previous comment was just a reply to avarice_riot. I wrote it in the exotic dialect of English dubbed Manglish/Singlish (depending where you come from) - to prove I'm a Malaysian of Chinese ancestry and NOT a native of Taiwan as some suspected.

Yeah, I guess it's different living in another country. I hardly speak BM after leaving school but this brought back some memories.

Fascinating commentary. Never heard of those dialects / languages and such cultural politics. Again, I can't understand the poem, but I'm curious . . .
