SECOND ANNIVERSARY(Peter Sprenkeler)

Another anniversarywe miss you so please believe us,
Yes terrorism did killand wretchedly deceive us.
We trust you now sit beside our loving Lord Jesus,
Your passing still so vividnever will it leave us.

We have seen the 'footage' so many ghastly times,
Your killers have by now no doubt paid for their crimes.
We send your spirits lovein these poetic lines,
The pain in our heartsan unmistakable sign.

Time has come to put the videos and tapes aside,
The pain will never diminishforever will it reside.
In our minds and heartstears for you still are cried,
Look at our facesour eyes awashemotions not yet dried.

We need no media remindersnor political schemes,
It is and will always be so clear in deepest dreams.
It is time for quietness with reflection so it seems,
Less publicitymore dignityin urgency it screams.

The wounds are deepmaybe they never will heal,
Still far too muchfor many with which to deal.
Intensely private sadnessall sense grief will sometimes steal,
Such a price we all have paidfor religious fervour and zeal.

Such a priceit is a comfort to us that you suffer no more,
Our memories still craveto see you come to the door.
We achewe hurtand live in fearto God we now implore,
Heaven only knows what nextterrorism has in store.

But leave us to grievefor to fond memories we hold,
We don't want the 'hype' and publicityso careless and bold.
We just want some spacefor our departed need to be always told,
Our memories and love will continuea linka cosmic thread of gold.

Pete that was a very touching heartfelt and fellow feeling poem! It's obvious you were deeply touched, and so was I . How kind of you to make the tribute to all those that die.
I don't know you Pete....but I know your heart is neat.....for out of the heart the pen writes...it speaks and this is lovely a poem for which we all can never forget!
We will grieve forever!
Thank you Pete
