scars
both old and new
re-open and bleed
they bleed for you
a scarlet offering
a gift of life
a pitiful gesture
from one who never knew love
raindrops
that taste like your skin
your scent
like coming winter
breathing fire into my mind
embers of old "loves" fade
as you cascade across my soul
no old pain can harm me
when your arms help hoist the burden
such a waste these days
it seems
that all i do is old and fruitless
born of hate, i knew naught else
'til you shone through the clouds of my despair
i'll never be able to tell you
unable to even whisper of your importance
i must appear indifferent
lest you dissolve like all else
my love is a poison
it kills everyone it kisses
so i shroud you in my apathy
to keep you close unto my heart
these words will never lie naked
before your leering eyes
because my love will have killed you
long before you reach this line
once you know how badly i need you
you will be whisked away
just like all the others
just like everything

| i'm always impressed by the way you can capture the intensity of emotions in your writing - whether the emotion is one of rage, pain or love. i love some of the phrases in this - particularly 'my love is a poison...so i shroud you in my apathy'. keep them coming, Kate x |
