[bodytext] => Why do u say you are lonely? Their puzzled faces do not understand You have a beautiful wife to be your comfort Take pride in what you have, Be thankful for the gifts bestowed upon you ! They can not know the deep of my mind For them no storms of doubt rage over rivers of regret Memories of words never spoken, opportunities lost. They are set rigid in their notions of what life should be Their views are not mine. The bars of the cage they seek to put me cannot contain me Yet I am still a prisoner, not of their making, but of mine Doors that seemed open now shut tight If only I knew how to fashion a key to help me escape I would grasp it firmly with both hands, never let it slip away They hold so loosely what I seek to posess I watch them smile, dance and sing Its easy they say, laugh in my face I feel like an outcast Wrongly accused of some terrible crime Stare deep into my eyes and tell me what u look upon If you see only your reflection You are really seeing nothing But if you can like so few, so very few Try to take a peek beyond If indeed you see, Look deeper, to the barriers that protect me Strong walls my defence against the hurt outside And yet, weakened by the few that have tried In places they yield, break apart The true path to my heart revealed I am the one they call shy It is a curse sometimes to be this way Yearning to be like the chameleon, to adapt to every situation But unable to blend in Backing away from uncertainty Sometimes it feels like I am out of step Trying so hard to be loved Remember that when next I tell you a joke or make you smile This is my shield, I hold it high But if you are strong you will always break it down.
