Array ( [sid] => 23842 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => hand of time [time] => 2003-09-26 03:25:00 [hometext] => I'm pretty sure you've all done this - stick your hand out the window as you're riding in the car - [bodytext] => just beyond my reach
my hand in the sun
outside the car window
used to look different
smooth, young and perfect
not so flawless anymore
signs of age creeping
on familiar skin
blue veins
my mother’s hands
contemplate what that means
nothing more than
someone’s genes
wind between my fingers
could blow me away
in a breath i’d be gone
the hand that writes
and washes dishes
the hand that caresses
you so tenderly
the hand that stroked
a baby’s cheek
my hand in the sun
still contemplating
what to touch
the feel of velvet
worn for him
the feel of steel strings
strummed in song
the rings on fingers
each one a story
given as symbols
of undying love
your heart in my hands
i turn and smile at you
as we drive through
sunlight and shadow
my hand just out of reach
