sittin' lonely on a shelf
or good morning sunshine
an ode to one's self.

The gingham dress has fallen
and he's clearly in love
or was it just lustful thinking
that was all the radio played of.

The eighteen-wheeler songs
the kind Daddy sang off-key
I grew up craving the life
that every country music song had seen.

I truly believed you could be hurt by people
then forgive and take right back
no one ever told me
it was life in a soundtrack.

The rose garden, the P.T.A.,
a love beyond compare........
it all was just a cruel little hoax,
that kind of love and the teddy bear. [comments] => 5 [counter] => 216 [topic] => 48 [informant] => jaeann [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Hi!
This is so true and touching. It is a sad
awakening in life.
Hugs to you,
Lynn

I was convinced when I was young
Life started on the bottom rung
You climbed rung by rung up to the sky
You reached the sky and you would die.

Then I noticed when I looked
Those above all things were booked
They didn't climb a single rung
Yet sugar canes for them were hung.
