Way out yonder in the outback
With a grace out of place amongst the red dust
She came upon a mountain range and its hues of rust
With the car gripping tar she climbed for a view
Spiralling up and around into the blue
Delight met her sight as she slinked out the door
A vision so surreal, she gasped as she saw
A start in her heart for far below flung
Was a feeling, free as a bird, it's song sung
But a hole in her soul was soon ravished
By the void which still gnawed, its hunger still famished
With a spread of her bread and a sip of her wine
She toasted to new life and freedom so fine
And she sank and drank recalled to mind
Senses numbing, beginning to unwind
She self daggered and staggered alas all alone
Spirit departing body on a journey to the unknown
With a smile for a while sure to linger
She travelled her final track to find what it would bring her

Thanks Jenni.. this is actually a resubmitted version of a poem I wrote with a friend last year. This is the first time I have been in this site since the change of format and am enjoying it whilst sitting here on a cold wet afternoon in Sydney, Australia.

I really enjoy your poems a lot and hope to submit some more myself soon.

Second attempt at replying to this one the damned computer (see my poem HATE)

Great poem! I was there.! I can't write like that.
Gutsy without being too soulfull and sad.
