He told me then of thirsty blade,
Of darksome legion in the field,
Of formless shape beneath nightshade,
Of flame and shadow terror wield,
Of fellsome sound of blade on blade
Relentless, fey and fearsome war,
Of cry resounding through the glade,
Of fallen leaf beflecked with gore.
And then he told me of the sight
Of shining host with banner fair,
Bright starry blade that shatters night,
Of silver horn that sounds in air,
Of music fair in firelit hall,
Of house upheld by pillars strong,
Of hidden land where rivers fall,
His words were woven as a song.

A great tribute to Tolkein.
Who can argue that he was an exceptional writer, he created a whole new world with the imagination of his mind, not to mention his own language.I think Tolkein would be proud that brilliant writers like yourself look up to him for inspiration. :) |

You know, it's awesome that you love Tolkien so much. Every time I hear someone praising him, I think of how I never really can get into his books. You see, my biological dad really likes Tolkien, but... that's about the only good thing I can think of about him. Sad to say, I guess, but anytime I pick up something by Tolkien, I can't read it due to memories of my "dad".
However...
The poem is lovely.

I think this is brilliant!
Anyone who loves Tolkien... will be lost in these words that transport us into his world.
Imagination is a wonderful and rare gift.
Not everyone knows the way to that fair land.

| I also rank Tolkien as one of my favorite writers. Lord of the Rings is definitely my favorite book. Our sons name is Jude Aragorn if that tells you anything(My husband and I are also Beatles fans). If you haven't already, check out Brian Jacques. I am currently reading his Redwall series which I've found to be a good place to escape. Much peace. Love your work. |

| I read Tolkien at the age of 18 and have given him create in my mind many times for my belief in all that would be mystical and magical in this life....I am sure he is beaming with this tribute verse....well done |
