Array ( [sid] => 24933 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Moth to the Flame [time] => 2003-10-12 23:38:26 [hometext] => I wrote this poem over several months, from July-September 2000. [bodytext] => Always unsure of what to do
I fly recklessly
To consequences I don't think of
I just do what my heart feels is right
Never knowing how it'll turn out
But many times this way I have been burned
Will someone tell me
When will I learn?

I'm just like a moth to the flame
Attracted to the light but scorched by the heat
So reckless and stupid
For flying towards it so blindly
But still has the ability to fly away unscathed
Burned but unbroken
Hoping I'm closer to a butterfly
But deep down I truly know
I can never be a monarch
I'm just a mere moth engulfed in flame.

I shoot to the sun because I follow my heart
But fall towards the ground because of my pride
Trying to show I'm truly a regal monarch
A dignified and graceful beauty of the field
Fluttering from flower to flower unabashedly but never quite finding what I need
So I head to the light to be true to my heart;
I'm just a moth who's obessed with the light.

I'm just like a moth to the flame
Attracted to the light but scorched by the heat
So reckless and stupid
For flying towards it so blindly
But still has the ability to fly away unscathed
Burned but unbroken
Hoping I'm closer to a butterfly
But deep down I truly know
I can never be a monarch
I'm just a mere moth engulfed in flame.

I know this feeling, too. Never give up. It's worth it. I was saved in Oct. 96.
