Array ( [sid] => 2501 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Hell [time] => 2002-08-20 12:13:19 [hometext] => I dedicate this poem to all those suffering from Cancer and the ones who love them. [bodytext] => Oh!Lord! how I hate this disease
Nothing can be said or done that
will put those who love me at ease
You see I have been here before
Doctors say you will be fine this time
But its like being caught forever in a revolving door
My friend died yesterday at only twenty three
Another of my world gone
Again counting losses leaving me
My love relationship gone sour
Words spoken out of fear
Destroying my heart in less than an hour
Each spoken word leaving its mark
Written in indelible ink
Last weeks world full of light, this one gone dark
Yes, I understand their despair
They may like or even love me
But self preservation keeps them fully aware
In my poetry I can express thought
That from my lips could never be brought
Do not see the disease
See ME please! [comments] => 4 [counter] => 240 [topic] => 25 [informant] => Sage [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => MiscPoems )

Your heartfelt poem has moved me Sage. It is so easy to fall into the trap of seeing the illness and not the person. I can relate with you on that.
I'm so glad you are able to express all your thoughts and feelings on paper...you have to put them somewhere just so that you can cope. Keeping you in my thoughts
Chrissie x

my great-grandmother had cancer when I was a small child. This poem brings back all of the hurt and frustration that I know that she felt. Thanks for sharing this!

I, like many, can realate to this poem. It brought back hurtful memories. My grandpa also died from cancer, and that memory I will never forget. Wonderful poem!
