You invest all you have in trusting another
your hopes, your dreams and precious time.
Maybe you can't even truly afford it,
and you know you are living well above your
means.
Desperately you seek out the charm of a
fairy tale.
Like Jack and his handful of magic beans.
Sadly, you wind up with an illusion
and find you have been taken,
by an expert at sleight of hand.
Weakened by the loss of tears,
you cannot sit up and take a stand.
So you place yourself, like a cheap knickknack
to gather cobwebs on an unreachable shelf
Or maybe your final epitaph will end
with words out of a front page headline
"before turning the gun on herself". [comments] => 5 [counter] => 193 [topic] => 21 [informant] => POOBEAR [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

PB, Whilst our minds have develped in exceptional ways they are still contained in a vertibrate structure developed over millions of years to survive.

When it comes to reproduction our bodies have a "mind of their own" OK call it love if you like but differentiate between the love we develope over time and that which hits you like a brick (at first sight) and is a primeval
reaction nothing to do with the mind. I've done a poem on this.

There is no doubt in my mind that we (homo sapiens) are a very nasty piece of work. Our behaviour towards eachother and everything else on this planet is appalling.

Every attempt by good people (religion) to change our ways seems doomed to failure.

There are some signs now that things are getting better but we have a long way to go before they are good.
